Assist Trophy: Waluigi

I just don't think Waluigi should be a character until he has his own game, which isn't a bad idea. Waluigi's clearly a pretty popular character, and Nintendo is low on fresh franchises. Once he starts in a game or at least gets some possible moves, I'm all for Waluigi to be a character. Until that day, an assist trophy he should remain.

Bosses: Wart

The boss of Super Mari Bros. 2, Wart deserves an appearance, especially since he hasn't even appeared as a trophy yet or even just a sticker. I don't think he should ever be a character, but should consistently be a boss for you to fight. He could spit out bubbles and jump up and down similar to the way he attacks in Super Mario Bros. 2.

Assist Trophy: Matthew

Matthew is the son of Issac and because of this along with his important role in Golden Sun, he should appear as an assist trophy.

Assist Trophy: Toad

I think before Toad becomes a character, he needs to be an assist trophy. He could just jump up and down saying "(insert character here) the princess is in another castle" and used as a distraction.

Yoshi

FIRST APPEARANCE
Super Mario World
1991
Super Nintendo Entertainment System

Everyone's favorite egg-laying dinosaur is a shoe-in to return, being one of the original Smash Bros. characters. He's also been one of the only 8 characters that has been a starting character in every game of the series. The only new thing about Yoshi I want to see is more colors of him. There's so many different alternate costumes he could have, plus he's a VERY simple character to edit color on.

The Four Main Characters

Of course, all smash games need the 4 "main" players. I'm obviously talking about Mario, Link, Kirby, and Pikachu. These 4 characters are the most important characters in the company of Nintendo and at least in my opinion, the gaming industry.

Mario
First Appearance: Donkey Kong (Arcade 1981)
Mr. Nintendo. He's the mascot of nintendo, the best selling franchise in video game history, and the star of nearly 300 games. He has all sorts of interesting merchandise, from a movie and two cartoon shows to his own cereal. If someone tells you they don't know who he is, they're obviously lying. I don't think we'll see the day when Super Mario isn't a household name.

Pikachu
First Appearance: Pokemon Red and Blue (Gameboy 1998)
Pikachu is the most popular pokemon (mostly due to the anime), which is the second most popular franchise owned by Nintendo. More recognized than Mickey Mouse, Bugs Bunny, and Scooby Doo, Pikachu is perhaps the symbol of pokemon.

Kirby
First Appearance: Kirby's Dream Land (Gameboy 1992)
I think Kirby's the least important of the main four, but he is still without a doubt immesively important. Kirby is one of the most unique characters in the Smash Bros. series, mainly because of his "B" move, where he swallows his opponents and gains their ability.

Link
First Appearance: The Legend of Zelda (NES 1987)
The Legend of Zelda series is the most stable series in video gaming. Every game sells millions of copies within its first week. Despite Mario being the mascot of Nintendo, Link is usually far more popular with the fans. The Zelda series is popular among both hardcore and casual gamers, which is very rare nowadays.

Well, that's the first issue of Simply Smashing. Next issue will be out soon. Follow me if you're interested and feel free to leave any sort of advice or response.

Smash Bros.

Smash Bros. is perhaps the best game series ever created. It unites generations of gamers together in a game that you can simply pick up and play, yet can also involve a lot of skill and practice. I will provide you with information of possible characters, stages, assist trophies, pokemon, and concepts that will be likely to appear in the next Smash Bros. game. Much more to come in the future.
